A lecture of Michael Roach, the famous “diamond cutter,” was held at the World Trade Center on August 28. Roach has an exciting biography: he attended Princeton University, lived in India, and devoted 25 years of his life to the Buddhist philosophy studies. He was the first and so far the only Westerner to receive the Buddhist monastic Geshe degree and, finally, he co-founded Andin International Diamond Corporation, a jewelry manufacturer with $200 mln sales per year, that was purchased by billionaire Warren Buffet.
Mr. Roach applied Tibetan philosophy to business, as well as to educational activities. Every year, his international education project, Diamond Cutter Institute, teaches more than 20,000 people worldwide. Many business giants, such as Xerox, Goldman Sachs, British Airways, Verizon Mobile and Bentley Systems, have sent their employees for training within the framework of the project.
At the lecture, Geshe Michael Roach explained how to get rid of instability that plagues people in all tiers of life, from business to family relations, and how to “grow” stability. The system based on ancient Tibetan principles includes 4 sets, 4 stages in each: the first is a set of steps for goal achievement, the second is a set of laws for a specific result, the third is a set of strengths to get rid of obstacles, and the fourth is meant to get rid of instability in the country.
The attendees of the lecture learned how to develop and to expand a business, notwithstanding a crisis and other factors, how to acquire confidence in your own performance, how to learn to understand the cause of success and the method of its achievement.
